I am having problems with my netgear 108mbps wireless router and after many upgrades and resets it still fails and drops connection under a heavy loads, so I am in the market for a new router if anyone has any recommendations on a specific brand, or model that they have had good luck, or that have been horrible. thanks for the advice

Linksys has always been the best imo.

I have a D-Link DGL-4300. It's super pricey, but worth it for a router as it has gigabit ethernet and 108mbps wireless and QoS for games. I generally use it as a switch at school so the routing functions don't get much use, but it's never caused any trouble at all.

Especially since Cisco owns Linksys

You can pick up a WRT54G on the Cheap then upgrade the firmware really nice. I own 3:

1) Here in my dorm
2) At home hooked up to my family's DSL
3)In my room at home set up as a wireless client of #2, so that way i don't have to buy 4 wireless cards for my little mini-network

if your using bittorrent or any other ptp that requires mulitple connections, you need to limit the amount of connections coming in and out of all computers hooked up to the router. most of these personal routers can only handle around 100-200 total connections. I had the same problem with netgears 54mbps router, and when i limited the number of connections in bittorrent it solved the problem and i haven't had any trouble with it since then.
