What is this Collegiate Station? Is it expensive as I suspect it is? Their website doesn't work.

Are there any other places that are similar to this?

Use IE for their website

That is an understatement.

that's the only thing like that in Rolla... which makes them think they can be ridiculous with cost...

Costwise... it's better to go with a house or apartment with roommates

Actually, I find the cost to be quite reasonable considering what they offer. $417 for a two bedroom is quite good when that price includes everything but food and electricity. That is, of course, assuming the facilities are good.... which I don't know. But it is a bit cheaper than Res College (with more amenities and no forced meal plan - not to mention 6 and 12 month leases). And I'm willing to bet the fitness center is better than UMR's. I can see it being successful.

Besides, this is what everyone has been yearning for - competition for ResLife.

competition for reslife is good...

alot of the amenities they offer like fitness center, pool, etc. we already have paid for through fees on campus...

i pay 300 average a month on everything... which is a benefit of living off campus in your own house and apartment...

That's true; the facilities at CS would need to be pretty good to merit the cost; But I know quite a few people who pay for the Rolla Centre still. I just don't see the cost being a lot - when I was in Rolla, I was paying $350/month for everything. Granted, I'm a spender...

Maybe I am at the wrong place, but the cheapest 2 bedroom is $475 PER PERSON, per month. Were you looking at the 4 bedroom or am I looking in the wrong place? And how is this competition for the dorms? Will they let freshmen/sophomores live there instead of the dorms?

oh you are at the right place... it is cheaper than the dorms...

ResLife doesn't enforce you living in the dorms as a freshman and sophomore... they make you think you have to but there are ways out of it

You don't think they would bill your account?

they don't and they legally can't because they can only bill you for housing IF you have signed a contract with them.

You can... not sign a contract, get married, have kids, have your parents sign a waiver...

It's not hard to figure out how to get out of it.

They probably would in all likelihood. Well I dunno. I've heard stories of people who've beat the system by simply not renewing their housing contracts. I think they just don't (didn't?) have an adequate sysem for tracking that. Maybe they still don't.

Off-campus ftw?
