So I just found out that I have a norovirus and I've heard of a few other people around campus complain about the same symptoms. I thought there was an outbreak of this like a month ago. I just hope it doesn't get to wide spread because it REALLY blows ass.

Oh and I don't eat at chartwells, so I can't blame them.....

That sucks man. At least you got through your presentation (which was really good by the way). I don't know if I had what you have, but I was definitely puking my guts out last weekend. I had some sort of 48-hour thing.

Thanks man, loved the sublime and the remote! Yep it sounds like you had exactly what I have, I can't believe you had this right before the FE. Cause I'm definetly pucking and doing other fun things about once an hour. I definetly lucked out on the presentation ordeal.

Yeah, im pretty sure it was chartwells food, it was really funny when they tried to explain it. they said that norovirus is spread from person to person, and one person infected the food which other people ate. In reality, when you leave food out for a while bacteria grows, if you leave food out for a very very long time, norovirus grows and eats the bacteria. oh, and about 400-500 students in TJ got it last time.

Speaking of the TJ epidemic... I like how student health called my roommate while he was still in the hospital (had been there for 2 days) and told him he could not tell anyone this was caused by food because he didn’t have test results yet. Isn’t it also neat how the hospital lost our results so we couldn’t completely identify what it was?

You guys have fun with Chartwells for another 5 years.

wow....remind me to never get sick while in Rolla.

How bad was the Chartwells epidemic that he was in the hospital for 2 days? I've had the stomach flu before, but besides the frequent puking and shitting, I was fine. 2 days in the hospital......damn.

Here is a little food for thought:

"Noroviruses are transmitted primarily through the fecal-oral route, either by consumption of fecally contaminated food or water..."

That's nasty... I think that once one person gets it and doesn't wash their hands... than anything they touch anyone can get it from

Another food for thought: Majority of the items you touch each day (including makeup, silverware, tables, desks, chairs, door handles, keyboards, etc) have fecal matter already on it

Detection of norovirus in foods

Routine protocols to detect norovirus (norovirus RNA) in clams and oysters by RT-PCR are being employed by most governmental laboratories such as FDA. However, routine methods to detect the virus on other food items are not readily available due to the variable nature of different food items regarding concentration and extraction of the virus with a special emphasis on removing PCR inhibitory factors.

explains how chartwells wasn't held responsible for the outbreak. its difficult to prove.

edit: 4-500 people??? how many people live in TJ?

((7 * 20) * 2) + ((6 * 20) * 2) + ((7 * 18) * 2) + ((3 * 15) * 2) = 862

This is a estimated MAX...
