Does anyone have a triband phone in Rolla? I bought a phone from Amazon for my fiance that is supposed to be an unlocked phone, but I can only get T-Mobile. I have Cingular, but my phone is a quadband, so I was curious if this was not an unlocked phone, or if you had to have a quadband phone for cingular in Rolla.
Thanks guys.

you are screwed, yes, your cingular card is going to work in the phone but it being unlocked doesn't mean you are going to get any tower in rolla, you are still going to only get cingular ones.
An unlocked phone means you can use any service SIM card in it to work.
I assume you are trying a 1900 triband phone, you will get service about 15 miles outside of rolla towards STL. Sorry, I ran into the same problem

Yeah, it is an L6 (my fiance wanted one of those hawt pink ones). If someone knows how to do a firmware mod, and could explain it to me in fairly simple terms, I would greatly appreciate it.

I've got an L6 and its modded for Quad-band. I've got all the software necessary from a website that i used for files and info. I get good reception everywhere in rolla also. What part of the whole process do you need help with?

i used to have a triband and got decent service... but I have Tmobile.
Yeah, for the most part, a triband is fine on T-Mobile since tribands have 1900MHz and T-Mobile only uses 1900MHz. I have T-Mobile as well, but having a quad band is nice because if I ever go out into the middle of nowhere (anything just outside of Rolla not along I-44) where T-Mobile doesn't have coverage, I can roam on Cingular or another 850 carrier..
I looked at that one also and compared it to another one or two guides and they say the same thing, so you should be fine if you follow that one. Good luck! Done forget to take backups of the original files first incase you mess something up. And hopefully you dont "brick" your phone.
