What kind of freakin question is that anyway? Don't get me wrong, she failed HARD, but I couldn't have come up with a semi-coherent answer to that super retarded question right there on the spot...

Why not outlaw MURDER instead of trying to outlaw guns?

I would like to add that she's also nervous out of her mind. Hell, if I had a whole day to ponder that question I don't know how I'd answer it.
True, answering that question on the spot might be extremely difficult, but that's no excuse to start rambling about the education system in 'the Iraq' and 'South Africa'.
She could've done much better by just fumbling through some lame excuses...

Perhaps they should have had her point to the USA on a map.

"Because government education, like every government 'service,' sucks."
I've gotten a "government education" at public schools all my life and did fine. Not all government services suck
I did as well, but does that mean that government services are as good as they can be and that we should be forced to use our money on said services? Why the fuck does the postal service not get replaced by private couriers, for example?

UPS, FedEx, and DHL are all private companies and let you mail stuff. You have choices. But UPS, FedEx and DHL want 6 bucks to mail a letter while USPS wants 41 cents. So, naturally, USPS is everyone's carrier of choice.
And FYI, not a dime of tax dollars goes towards the USPS. It's entirely funded by postage.
She was on the Today Show this morning talking about how bad she messed up the question and they let her answer it again. She said something like, "My friends and I can identify the United States on a map, but if the statistic is true then Geography needs to be emphasized more in schools."
I prefer her original answer. "Some people out there in our nation don't have them and I believe our education such as South Africa and the Iraq and like such as" ftw.

And before you guys blast me on that one, I am teaching at a public university. That is different because a lot of the money does come from tuition - if the school sucks, there's no law forcing you to go or spend tuition money there. Unlike many elementary/high schools, where you HAVE to attend, whether the school is good or not.
I would really like to see a transcript of her first answer. Anybody feel like typing it out? I watched it three times, just cause I was so impressed by her ineptness at the english language.
