Oh, you know... I saw that icon for the article yesterday as I was scanning the page and thought it was a wireless symbol of sorts and didn't even bother to read the caption. I guess it makes sense now... sort of.

I was here when they tested it the first time over the summer. IIRC it was a total failure.

the volume of a smaller whistle was not loud enough to penetrate to the interiors of many campus buildings

That would be an understatement. I was expecting to hear some cool new noise and got nothing. Granted I was working in the back of Comp Sci but I still expected to hear a little something.
Hopefully the new whistle isn't as god-awful annoying as the alarm that went off in EE yesterday...

I will be sleeping. If it wakes me up... I guess it works... mind you, i'll also be pissed about being woken up by a damn test whistle

but for the sake of the greater good, i am willing to sacrifice the time it takes to wake up and go back to sleep... i guess

If you can hear it in the basement of McNutt, anyone nearby will have their ears start bleeding...

I have class in ME216 (right by the power plant), so I plan to bring earplugs to class tomorrow and put them in around 0955......

I barely heard it in my class in the CS building. Could have easily been mistaken for a lawn mower or just construction noise perhaps.

Oh, by the way... I love the "reminder" e-mail from Andrew Careaga I received at 10:35AM...

I didn't hear it at all in EE, but Dr. Zoughi talks kind of loud. I wasn't thinking about listening for it but if it had done its job that shouldn't have mattered.
Third time's a charm maybe?

If they buy a third whistle, perhaps they should distribute the other two among the campus to ensure better coverage. That's assuming they keep the ones they've already bought, I guess. I don't know if you can return something like that... lol.

I'm in that class too.

I didn't hear it either. So much for "campus-wide notification even within buildings"
