So...anybody see it. Had his full name, birthdate, etc. I got a paper, but I heard that they disappeared shortly after their release. Discuss.

I guess that depends, does looking at the back page count as 'reading' the Miner? If so, I would say a lot of people read the Miner....

Have it duly noted that the object in question was in no way an ad for anything related to me.

Additionally have it noted that I was not consulted, nor did I give any form of consent (implied or direct) for the printing of any of the information enclosed.

Furthermore, have it noted that the article in question is of heightened concern to multiple parties, and that its reproduction may not be in the best interest of those whom would choose to do so.

Discuss as you wish, but keep the above in mind, along with any applicable Missouri statutes that could surround such an issue.

I think that means:

Show us what it looks like, and he will sue"

in veiled threats....

Or is it just me. I guess it IS true that everything can be solved with a lawsuit....

I was in no way attempting to threaten posters to this forum with lawsuits. I will state however, that images within the Missouri Miner, are (as I understand it) copyrighted and their reproduction is not allowed. I am not associated with the Missouri Miner, and as such that issue is not relevant to me...simply those who may choose to reprint their material.

As for the issue of solving problems with lawsuits, I would say that some issues arise that the only recourse is that of a legal matter. I do not understand why this would be viewed as a negative thing. If one is legitimately deserving of filing a lawsuit, should they not do so?

As an addendum, the above statement is made completely theoretically and is not tied to any past, present, or future events that may or may not occur.

okay veggie, we realize this pissed you off. Now can somebody please share this. perhaps a piratebay.org link would be useful.

Also, i have gotten many a veiled threat about getting sued. You/the miner will have to wait your turn behind some much bigger parties to get your money from me.

Again...pointing out I was in no way attempting to threaten you, veiled or otherwise. As I explained in my previous post.

I am certainly not a lawyer, but it is my understanding that as a public university, written creations of the university are considered "public domain". Would this not apply to a student organization of the university as well, especially one in which the employees are paid using student fees?

Even if that weren't the case, I think the reproduction of one article would still fall under fair use as the use would not in any way diminish "sales", would be used for informational purposes, and would constitute only a small portion of the overall newspaper.

Not saying someone should do this, just that I'm not sure the Miner would have a case even if they wished to pursue it.

Well history has shown that the Miner would indeed pursue a case even if they don't have one.
