After getting used to mstforum's shiny new phpBB3, coming back to seek's phpBB2 is not so pleasant. I do realize that converting to 3 would equal a goodly amount of work for Chankster and berto. I did a little digging and found it is possible (phpBB2->phpBB3)
I'm just interested in if this is something the community would like to happen (in which case I would be happy to donate some time to help) or if everyone is fine with the way seek is now.
And yes, I do realize that some options of the poll are pay, I just wanted all the bases covered.

What the fuck do you think you're going to accomplish here dude? Unless you're Berto or Chank, a poll of this nature is nothing but masturbation. It'll make you feel good now, but in the end you're just fucking yourself, with the added bonus that it's in public, so it's incredibly rude and will likely piss off the hosts.
The servers have been up for less than a week, and you're already bitching about what version they're using? Do you realize how much random ass pieces of code are strewn about the seek box, and how hard it will be to convert these forums from 2 to 3? They've already said they'll do it, but fuck man their main priority at the moment is figguring out how exactly the server functions, much less what they can and cannot do. You can't expect them to take something as customized as this and be able to make it bend to your every will. If you want PHBB3, then go to MST forums and fucking stay there.
Personally, I'll give the guys a chance. Based on their reputation alone, I trust they won't let the Seek reputation down, and will improve the forums as best as they can.

Sorry if I came across as critical of you - I was directing towards mad duck. I'm positive that you (I don't know you, but I at least trust berto) and berto have the right ideas in mind and will carry seek onwards to a great future.

WHOA! Where's all this hostility coming from? Christ, all I am doing is asking for opinions. I'm not trying to goad Chank or Berto into anything. In fact, I'm talking to Chank as he's working on upgrading.
I applaud all the work that has been put into getting seek back up. But yes, you can expect to make seek bend to your will. That's what makes good things better. It takes patience and hard work, and again, I'm happy to see that Chank is working on it now.
So excuse me if I missed where they said that the transition from 2 to 3 was in the works. I have every confidence in Chank and Berto and am ecstatic that seek has new leadership.
But I do think that in the recent past, seek suffered from a lack of community input. Seek began with the purpose of sharing, and I think it built an amazing fellowship from that aim. I think the open source model is the best way to keep Seek on the top of its game.

I would say leave things as they are. Too many times I have seen organizations upgrade their IT equipment because new versions exists or some other reason not relevant to a problem with the equipment...
Anyway, if it works and if system performance is not being affected, then leave it be.
They gentleman who got this system back on the network went through a lot of effort to get it back on; and quite frankly surprised the heck out of me with some "accommodations" I shall say that were made for him...
