Did anyone else on campus have issues with connecting to the internet last night? i know i was up at the rc till about 1 and i heard a few people complaining about not being able to connect. i then returned to my room (in the quad) where i'm wired in, and i wasn't able either.
IT services restored Friday morning The campus experienced a outage overnight that resulted in most campus IT services being unavailable. All services were restored by just after 8 a.m. We are continuing to investigate the cause of the outage to verify it was related to monthly server patching during last night’s maintenance window. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions about this issue, please contact the IT Help Desk at 573-341-HELP.

I guessing that the DNS server was down as I could still play CS:S online and Steam would still be connected to friends. Two guys on my floor were playing WoW and they were still on, but you couldn't get to any websites.
It sucked; I had a DiffEq test this morning and I wanted to look at past tests... but the internet was down. So I studied a ton, and when mst finally came back online, I found that the tests were 10x easier than I expected... so basically I was up till 5am for nothing.

Off campus FTW.
I wasn't able to connect to blackboard, the main webpage, or VPN to do my online homework, but I was able to connect to Joe'SS. Is that hosted off campus?

JoeSS is hosted in Columbia
That may be, but I'm pretty sure all the info for it is down here. Because I could load the page, but it wouldn't accept my username/pass

It may have been trying to authenticate to the domain controller. I would bet that the active directory servers and the DNS servers are one in the same. If those services were down, then it may just have problems authenticating. Though it would seem to me that Columbia would have a back-up domain controllers (BDC).
