Internet instability due to last night's severe weather
Missouri S&T is currently experiencing significant instability with our Internet services as a result of the severe weather that moved through Missouri overnight. Our circuit provider, Show-Me Technologies, is aware of the problem and is working to correct the issue.
A number symptoms may result from the current situation:
* Customers with Embarq DSL services in Rolla may experience instability when attempting to access Missouri S&T services.
* Fidelity cable modem customers should not experience connection issues since there are alternate connections to the Fidelity Communications network.
* Access to UM System applications and to Blackboard will be intermittent and connections may be randomly dropped.
* Random sessions to off-campus sites may get disconnected or hang.
IT is in contact with our Internet providers and will provide updates as they become available.
