A Dark Tower movie is being made (finally), was wondering who y'all thought should be in the cast.

Honestly I have perfect pictures of the characters in my head already and I can't think of anyone that fits them very closely.

Also I just started wolves of calla the other day so they best not make it to the end of the series before I can get there on my own.

I was thinking of Daniel Day Lewis for Roland, depending on how gritty he can make his voice

Oh, God. That's difficult. All things considered, for the first movie... they'd have to cast like four people total: Roland, Jake, The Man In Black (in case people haven't read the first book yet... shame on them), and that random guy whose name I can't remember.

Actually, honestly, I have no idea. I have all these visions in my head, but I can't put names to my imaginary faces. The only one I could possibly consider right now is Callum Blue as as Eddie, but only because I saw him on TV today and he was a fucking badass in Dead Like Me for a similar character.

EDIT: So, after reading a bit and seeing people's ideas... It seems like there's a small camp of people that think Hugh Laurie would be a good Roland. And, after some thinking... I think I agree. He got the desert-y experience in Flight of the Phoenix, and I actually think he'd do well as Roland. If we can get him away from House for ten years...

Edward Norton could make a good eddie, and Halle Berry is what i think of Susannah as. Idk if i could get over the fact that House is House. Even if he plays the part perfectly, I think that his previous role would distract me.

Blech. Halle doesn't look a thing like how I see Susannah. I would actually be happier seeing Calypso from the Pirates movies do it. (Whatever her name was; the link you posted suggested her.) My only real concern is how well she could pull off the Detta personality.



I understand entirely. It would probably be difficult to get over House as... well House. However, in defense of the Doc, it still amazes me that his entire "American" persona as the Doctor is fake. I know he could pull off the look, and with how flawlessly he acts, he's one of the few I could really trust to make Roland both look and sound like Roland. Short of someone who already is Roland, I'm not sure I can think of anyone better.

I honestly think the hardest roll to pull off would be 14 year old Roland. I just don't see any 14 year olds today that would even begin to understand the amount of maturity needed to play the part.

I don't know who should play these characters, but I'm scared as hell about this project. I'm glad that JJ Abrams is in charge of it, but I think that any movie based on this series is going to disappoint. There's just too much there. I would love to see this made as a limited series on Showtime or HBO so they could take all the time the needed to tell these stories instead of cramming so much into 2 hours chunks. Just think about the Potter movie and imagine how much those leave out, and Dark Tower is so much deeper than that. My emotions are so mixed right now.
