So I've been battling unstable spanned disks for a while (that's what happens when you mix new and tired drives, I guess), and I got fed up and am implementing RAID5 instead. Of course, this means fetching new drives so I have three instead of two... and in my infinite retarded wisdom I totally forgot to account for the number of cables I'd need to hook up said new drives. I got IDE cables coming out of my ears, but even gathering up every spare I own, I'm still one SATA short.

So, "as brevity is the soul of wit, I shall be brief." I need a SATA cable, preferrably at least 18" because of the case I'll be using, and also rather soon. Thanks.

And bonus points to the first person to ID the quote without google/wikipedia.

I think you failed your goal of being brief. Especially by including a quote. And then you goofed on number of SATA cables.. all around fail.

sounds like my day....

I have like 30 of them. They're at my house and I live off campus though.

HOWTO: get 12 free right angle lo-pro SATA Cables.

1. Buy two totally different AMD AM3 motherboards from XFX.

2. Put a double slot video card in each one

3. Realize that they put all the sata ports under the primary PCIE 2.0 x16 slot so that you can't plug in all your slots

4. Endure the process of registering their stupid support tickets system at xfx.com, after battling with their useless phone support which lasts hours and inevitably, they only ask you what your ticket number is then send you to the website. (You probably already had to do this before anyway, because 1 XFX board was DOA and the other fried for no reason after 2 months use)

5. Put in an angry ticket stating that their motherboards are consistently horribly designed and ask, "How am I supposed to use your 'amazing' RAID technology when my video card looms directly over said SATA ports?"

6. Provide your address for them to ship your amazing XFX brand Black SATA right angle plug lo profile cables of all doom and glory!

HOWTO: Get 12 more free SATA Cables...

1. After you recieve the first batch, get on the ticket system before the ticket closes, and state that you never recieved the previous batch.

2. Figure out what the hell you're going to do with all these SATA cables...

To be honest, he does have something to contribute - about thirty SATA cables.

Also, it was funny.

I have been buying most of my cables from monoprice.com . They are inexpensive, but not cheap. I haven't had any problem with the quality.

Most of the cables I've bought would have cost more to ship than the cost of the cable itself if I hadn't bought 3-4 cables at a time.

We know ALL about the computer stores in Rolla. Both of them. We don't shop there for several reasons.

Give it a rest, kid.

ok then go on newegg, tigerdirect, monoprice, or even ebay and spend 10 on a single sata cable then wait a week to get it, all the same to me really. There is also pctechnologies and staples if that suits your tastes better? Yes I realize the whole point of posting here is to find one someone has for cheap but since that doesn't always seem to be the case I figured i'de post were some might be available, whats so bad about that? No I don't think your all idiots who don't know anything but I wasn't even aware of either micom or petersons myself until a little while ago. Sorry for trying to be helpful?

The need has been filled. I believe this topic has served its purpose, and should be retired.
