I have Hentzel for Econ 122 and I am having a heck of a time getting decent grades in his class. Does anyone have any study materials I could take a look at for this class? I would really appreciate it.
I took the class a few semesters ago - it was right after he changed the tests from true/false & multiple choice to definitions, short answers, paragraphs, and math. I also had a really hard time in the class - you could study really hard and still get a terrible grade because you didn't memorize one obscure formula that he mentioned that wasn't in the book, or because you didn't memorize a graph that was in the book that he didn't mention in class... Also, there was a problem on one of our tests that everyone answered correctly, but he didn't think that any question should be answered right by everyone, so he went back and found problems with everyone's and took points off.
Anyways, one of my friends took the class the semester after me and he used all of the same tests, word for word. He passed back tests 1-3 to us, and the last test was a takehome that we didn't get back. I'm pretty sure the "open book" tests were a ploy to get people to open their books so they couldn't return them to the bookstore for full price since it was written by our Econ department.
So, if you want to succeed, find someone that has taken the class and bum the tests off of them.

^^ yes, that..
But be careful, I had the class last semester and the first couple tests were all word for word. Then toward the end of the semester they would be word for word for the first half or so, making you think it's exactly the same so you just start filling stuff in without thinking, then he changes a tiny part of the problem, like a single number or something. So watch for that stuff... And I thought I still had those tests, but I can't seem to find them, must have thrown them away... oh well.
That was a blow off class for me Spring of 07. The tests were word for word from the previous semester and he didn't care if you talked, shared, used your book, whatever during tests.. he turned AWAY from the class during tests and read his book or the news paper.
He told us the first day that he didn't intend to use or did he see it necessary to use the text book, he told us we should take it back if we don't want to spend the money.
Maybe his ideology has changed since then, but that semester he didn't give a f**k about the course and acknowledged the fact that the only reason we were there was because the state required us to take an econ class.
When I took Econ last semester, the tests were the questions from the back on the book on the chapter or chapters he says the test would cover. So, if you do have the Econ book, check the back to see if he's still doing the direct copy (literally it was word-for-word). I think I may still have the tests, though, but since it's from the back of the book...
