I need to start a clean slate on my computer. I am thinking about Windows 7.
Is it worth it?
My computer is an Asus computer they have drivers officially released for everything in Vista 32 and 64... is it safe to assume they should work on Win 7?
I have a Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz processor in my laptop. Should I use the 64 bit or 32 bit? Drivers are available for 32 and 64 Vista.
The biggest question is how much RAM you have, if you have 3+ GB then 64 is the way to go. If you have 1-2 then it really doesn't matter all that much as a general user.
But personally I'm a huge fan of Windows 7 right now, I think they corrected most of the things wrong with Vista (UAC blah!) and have some pretty nice new features like the homegroup sharing and new task bar.
As for drivers, they should work. I may be wrong, but I believe Vista and 7 are built on the same core/kernel so what works for one generally works for the other. Thats my experience at least, when I was running the RC on one of my laptops and there weren't official 7 drivers, I usually downloaded the Vista ones and used them.

I'm currently sitting with 3 gigs. My video card is 512 (256 shared + 256 dedicated). I may do more in the future.
I'm going to go ahead and by the $30 student copy of win 7. I think it is funny on their website that they are pushing home premium, but there is a link about 3/4 of the way down the page that will let you get premium for the same price

I was an EE, but I graduated in May. I did try to get in to MSDNAA, but was not able to. All things considered $43 for the download and mailed copy of the DVD isn't a horrible price to pay.
