Just saw on the news. Students at Westminster are protesting the Governor's proposal to cut state scholarship funding (Bright Flight & AccessMO, etc) to PRIVATE institutions.

Frankly I don't see a problem with it. If student choose to attend a private institution, they should be willing and able to take the added financial burden it will entail. I receive a fair amount of merit based scholarships, including Bright Flight, so I'm not coming at this from the side of a slacking student who is pissed I lost my scholarships, but why should our tax dollars go to private institutions instead of back into ones owned by the state?

They're doing this because private school students were receiving DOUBLE the merit based scholarships of public university students. They just took the amount of money and leveled it out so now everyone receives the same. Its like "you got the 30 or better on ACT? here's a few grand, spend it where you like".
