And that load of horseshit is why MS&T will never get more than the $1 raffle entry I signed up for upon graduation as a donation from me. The program "failed" because the powers-that-be wanted it to fail.

I guess that on the bright side, there will not be any department left to hold phone-a-thons to beg for donation money from me.

Let me get this straight, they're keeping Philosophy (did you know MST had a Philosophy department? Neither did I) which produced 1.3 degrees between 2008 and 2010, and are terminating Chemistry which produced 9.3 degrees in the same timeframe. Where the hell is the logic in that?

It probably has something to do with the cost per graduate. I bet philosophy costs hardly anything, while Chemistry is probably much more expensive.

Doesn't make it right, but that might be their reasoning.

They are not actually cutting chemistry, they have two programs for chemistry and one is ABET accredited and the one that just got accredited is ACS, i believe, and there are currently no students enrolled in the program that is getting cut. So there are no worries.
