May 25 for the theatrical release and rumor has it sometime in September for the Extended Edition.

I think I read somewhere that Peter Jackson commented that an extra 43min was re-inserted for the EE.

I have tried downloading the mpg version and it is just shitty quality.

Seriously... The first two movies had an extended edition, why wouldn't this one? Granted, it's going to make the movie longer than fuck... But it'll be worth it.

Return of the King was one of the worst movies I have seen this year. I cannot believe that it is nominated for best picture (and will probably win). And the score is nominated also. It was some of the worst movie music I have ever heard. Pathetic. The Fellowship of the Ring was an awesome movie. They definately got progressively worse with each installment. The part with the dead soldiers was like the gayest thing I have ever seen. You didn't even get to see them fight. They just swarmed the place and that was it. GAY!! The best part of the movie was when everyone in Minas Tirith (or whatever damn place) bowed to the hobbits. And that didn't even happen in the books. HA!!

That was me voicing my displeasure with the movie. Pathetic. Anyone care to rebuttal?

Really though, I haven't seen the 3rd movie yet because I really don't care about it. The first 1 was really good, the 2nd bored the fucking shit outta me. So seeing the 3rd isn't a high priority.

Yea, I have no desire to see the third movie, its right up their on the list of blockbusters that I will never watch with Titanic. They took a good series of books and completely preverted the thing. Tolkien is rolling in his grave.

I disagree with you, but I do commend your willingness to stand against the overratedness of this movie. It has some spectacular scenes, but for the most part it's just too overdone. I guess there will never be a quiet epic again, like "Giant" or "Doctor Zhivago." Oh, well.

New Line is expected to make an official announcement of the DVD releas Monday 3/8/04. However, I don't expect that the releas date will change from the May 25th date that I posted earlier.

Dr. Zhivago is a long boring piece of shit. Critics, people in Hollywood, people on the Academy, and the general public are a bunch of idiots.

Yes, it is mostly boring. However, the cinematography is incredibly beautiful, it is well-paced, the scene of the small Russian funeral near the beginning is unforgettable, as are some of the battle, revolution, and multiple train sequences. Sure, the schmaltzy love story is TOTAL CRAP, but the rest is worth your time and sometimes even good.
