You can get off with just water and electricity and basic phone service for about $50/month between two people for h2o and power, plus about $20 after taxes for phone service.
If you want to add cable tv (which means you get to see stuff besides snow or what your vcr/dvd player can make) or cable/dsl, expect to add another $50-120 to the phone bill. Cell phone service can add about $40 per month to your expenses for the lower levels of service. Fortunately, they can virtually eliminate your need for a phone service, but make sure that you aren't screwing yourself out of package deals by giving up phone service. Those packages can actually save you money in the end.
What do you need this info for? just checking out the apartments?

Good to know since I'm planning on moving off campus for this fall. Keep in mind though that lots of places usually include certain utilities in their costs. I think I'll probably be in the A frames or something so I don't think my cost of living will be too high. They run some sort of high speed internet out there dont they?

Our place has 3 people- small apartment, we are going for the cheaper living ( bad idea, small place 3 people= bad and cramped)
Utilities bill- $100-110- This includes water, trash, sewer, elec
Internet and cable- $97 ( this includes 151 channels with digital box and 50k cable modem which is at 120k cause someone fucked up, everyone i know who has fidelity got something free because of a fuck up)
Best way to go is 2 people in a small place. Don't get more people into a place than you want to, yeah you save a lot but it sucks.

Heh, I'm stuck with 1 person in a small place unless I can find a roomie that I'll get along with since everybody else is moving into a house. I'll probably just be over there a lot so I don't care about a smaller living space.

Watch out for those A-frames Beasty-Fella, they look nice, and they've got plenty of room, but the one my friend lived in was basically uninsulated. The walls/roof were nothing more than wood, tar paper, and shingles. Add in the big bay windows, and the appartment was hot as hell in the summer, and cold in the winter. A lot of people out there end up putting stryrofoam over the windos just to get some kind of temperature control.
That's about the extent of my monthly bills. I live alone and in a really nice place (cheaper ones are available). It's definitely much cheaper to spread it out over multiple people, though...
