last i checked, i had the highest score, at 37650.
i kept a record on excel for different strategies, including what levels i lost a ball on, the score at the beginning and end of each level, the score per each level, the time bonus for each level, and the strategy i used. it ended up being a balance between curve scores and time bonuses. ie, on the lower levels where the ball moves slowly, you need to skunk the computer so that you don't use up all your time bonus watching the ball slowly float back and forth. on the intermediate levels, the trick is to hit the ball with a mixture of super-curves and curveless hits (there is a curve bonus, super-curve bonus, and accuracy bonus {when you hit the center panel}. the curve/super-curve bonus can be combined with the accuracy bonus. when you get the same bonus twice in a row, it decreases, until you don't get that bonus any more. so you would ideally get a super-curve+accuracy, get that again, then get nothing, then get super-curve+accuracy, again, get nothing, etc) and still beat the computer without losing the entire time bonus.
at level 7 and 8, the strategy became NOT scoring against the computer. you have to get bonus after bonus, then hit on the corner of the paddle without imparting curve (matching the tangential velocity of the ball with the paddle to prevent additional spin) to reset the decreasing bonus score.
at level 9, it's totally PADDLE FOR YOUR FRICKIN LIFE because that guy is impossible to score on.
