Hmm.. what do you think? Will this prequel sequel be all it's cracked up to be?
Quote:
About Episode III After three long years of relentless fighting, the Clone Wars are nearly at an end. The Jedi Council dispatches Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring General Grievous, the deadly leader of the Separatist droid army, to justice. Meanwhile, back on Coruscant, Chancellor Palpatine has grown in power. His sweeping political changes transform the war-weary Republic into the mighty Galactic Empire. To his closest ally, Anakin Skywalker, he reveals the true nature of power and the promised secrets of the Force in an attempt to lure him to the dark side.
you know WHY these prequels are sucking? no han solo. that guys is a badass. these jedis are a bunch of pussies, they rely on magic and shit. han solo was just a bad assed mercenary guy. AND he's played by harrison ford. and his sidekick was an 8 foot tall shag carpet.
lando calrissian is also a badass. and HIS sidekick (or at least his copilot in the millenium falcon) cracks my shit up.
But that 8 foot tall shag carpet makes his introduction in Episode III, and from what I've heard from the rumor mill, saves Yoda's life somehow.
I think Episode III has a chance to be a good movie. Rather than having a group of all powerful good guys that can't lose, we're going to see almost all of the good guys die in one way or another. Yoda and Obi-Wan are the only ones that survive and stay good till the end. Sorry if that spoils it for anyone who hasn't seen the original trilogy. There will be more drama than Anakin having temper tantrums, and the action should be start to finish, rather than piled at the end like the first two movies.
I thought the first prequel was vastly disappointing, and it seemed to be geared towards preteens. There was never a feeling of danger or doubt that it would all work in the end. The second one was much darker, and I appreciated that. Lots of conspiratorial overtones and hints of darker things to come made it much more enjoyable, and the huge battle at the end combined with the Yoda lightsaber duel make it worth watching repeatedly. The third one should be the best of the three, for what it's worth, as Lucas can finally start killing off the characters he's created, although I've heard that Jar Jar does survive... that annoying bastard.
Yeah, I and II sucked. Period. I've still got the original trilogy at home, only with the sound remasterd. Too bad its on VHS, but it is Star Wars the way they were meant to be seen.
TPM only sucked b/c of JarJar. I liked AotC. Revenge will be the best of the three. The real reason the prequels sucked is that everyone expected them to be perfect. No matter how good they could have been, people would still be disappointed b/c they are being compared to the original trilogy, which they can't realistically live up to. In order for the prequel trilogy to be enjoyed, it HAS to be taken, is some ways, as a completely separate entity.
III will partially redeem the other two because the biggest bad ass of all will make an appearence, Darth Vader. Plus not to mention getting to see Obi-Wan beat the shit out of Anakin.

The big battles in I was decent enough, you just had to ignore the story and characters and all that. Jar-jar was a bitch, and shoulda been shot on site. The mental ability of all Gungans kinda killed it. The boss was a big bitch, too. Bitch bitch, bitch bitch bitch.
II was decent as well, but not as great as I had hoped. Every scene with Anakin was some big dramatic thing. Once or twice, sure, but how many times they made it seem so serious and all was a bitch much. If you mute it, though, the movie is kickass. Jengo Fett, anyone? And if you watch the arena scene on Genanocysis (sound it out) you notice that like all but four jedi do die, so they aren't all powerful. The driod v. clone battle at the end was kickass, and with surround sound, it makes it even better. Yoda's a pimp, pure and simple, and he proved that.
With the first three movies, we didn't know what to expect, and that helped to make them so freakin' awesome. With these, we were expecting greatness like that. You can't expect greatness, because nothing will seem great enough for you. Our expectations killed them for us. Now, had we been some little kid who hadn't seen 4-6, they woulda seemed kickass.
But I think Chewy and Han, and maybe Lando, did help to make the movies great to start with. We have no real comic relief in I and II. No cocky guy to quip in with funny little sarcastic comments or insults.
III could be good; the premise sounds better than I, but not sure it can, overall, beat the battle scenes in II

I have seen a few clips of III and it looks good so far.
