I can't get an answer from the PRO lady, and I need to move in this thursday in TJ if possible.

If any of you are mentors for freshmen week, what are you going to do? We have training on friday, and i'd like to be moved in thursday, but I don't want to show up with all my crap and find out I can't do anything with it.

If need be I could always drive down friday, go to the training, come back with my parents the next day with all my stuff, or If I could stay down there (possibly sleep in a friends room whos down there) they could show up saturday with the rest of my stuff.

But my best option is to move in thursday (because my mom can't bring anything down and do it friday, because she has something), and I can't fit everything in my car (mommy has a van).

So can I move into TJ? Can I do it without getting charged since I'm a mentor? Will they allow it, and if not I hate Res-Life, those wanks.

Call ResLife; they'll know. I'd imagine they'd let you, but you may have to pay some fee for moving in the day early. It's stupid, but that's ResLife.

You can not pay the fee if you promise you wont sleep in your room.

If you have to move in early for a university reason, the fee will be waived.

Upperclassmen are allowed to move in any time on or after August 21st. If you want to move in early, you have to submit a form and a check for $11 for each day before then, unless the fee is waived for a legitimate reason to be on campus early. They should have mailed the form to you already, it was a little yellow slip of paper that came with your room information. I doubt you'd be able to check out your key early if you didn't submit the check beforehand. Even if you have a cool RA, the front desk has the keys...

Shit, I never sent in the yellow slip of paper.

What was it with? I have to be there thursday (but shouldn't have to pay, as I have a legitimate reason).

So can I get there and just say I need to move in?

I gave res-life a call. Suprise Suprise, noone was there (what kind of crappy hours do they have?).

I e-mailed them with all my information also.

I'll call tommorow, and if they won't let me move in, they'll feel my wrath.

I don't think the form is as important to them as the money. Just mail Res Life a check for $11x(# of days early) along with your name, student number, room number and building you're staying in. Or if you have a legitimate reason, explain it in the letter. I'm sure they can figure it out without the form. I personally wouldn't trust e-mail right now, since it will get buried in their stack and there's no guarantees they'll get to it as soon as something physically in their hands.

Yeah, I'm going to call them tommorow early, and if that doesn't work i'll send them a slip, and say I sent it two weeks ago and the mail must just be shitty ;)

You can move in early - this from a break R.A. - and yes, you need to call ahead to tell us that (call TJ and ask to be forwarded to Rhonda tomorrow between 8:30 and 4:40 CDT - 573-341-4895) - I will be happy to inventory your room and check you in (well, not quite happy, but I'll do it), and since you're a mentor, you probably won't be charged.

Rhonda knows all, or at least she knows where to find it out. She'll help you, and then I'll help you. Nothing to worry about.
