If you've got a car and aren't planning on going anywhere for the next two or more days, park it close to the car in front of/behind you. There's waaay too much parking space wasted when people leave an extra 3/4 car length on either side. Two feet is adequate.

Better yet, park farther away and leave the close-to-campus spots for the commuters. Chances are you'll know at least one person who has a TJ parking spot and can/will use them for walmart/food runs, so don't park you car right behind EE and CS and leave it there for the entire semester. That wastes a spot that could be used by someone who needs to drive to and from campus on a daily basis.

I brought it up in another recent thread, but it deserves repeating. Form a line at each food station in the cafeterias. Don't form one long line. It makes as much sense as people lining up behind one toll booth when there are supposed to be six lanes, but it will happen all the same. And waiting through one line doesn't mean you can automatically cut into another line when you get your food at one station.
Well, someone asked for it, so here it is - The Annual Freshmen Tip List! 1. As someone already said, fom multiple lines for food/slop/whatever it is they call it 4. Delivery people don't like calling long distance cell numbers to get you. Try to use your room phone number 5. Tip the delivery people!!! (unless they are super late) ??
Fuck waiting in line, get a salad/drink, wait for the line to die down.
Fuck the snotty delivery people, and dont tip them if you are using points unless you get more than two pizza's. If people starts tipping the delivery people all the time they get rude about not getting tipped. Asshole delivery people know that you pay extra for points, then pay more for getting it delivered on them. For baby jesus sake you are paying like $24 for a pizza that would cost you $10 if you paid cash.
If you start doing something stupid like tipping $3 each time you get a pizza remind your self how much food you can buy at taco bell with that $3.
If you're parked by the Quad or in the TJ lot, try to move your car somewhere else (or at least, in a remote corner of the lot) on moving days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) this week. You know you hated moving your crap into the dorms, so be nice and don't make everyone else have to carry their crap further because you don't want to move your car.
Rolla sucks, but it get's better. Not much better, but better nonetheless.

Damn I hate that. I live about 2 miles from campus so I drive every day. Over the summer I've been able to easily find spaces around EE and ERL for class and work, but starting yesterday, they're all gone already. It looks like this semester could be the worst yet for parking.
Well, I always tip when I pay with cash and rarely tip when I use points. Most of the time the delivery person is getting paid to drive across the street on their way to other deliveries.

After two solid years of being down here (I've been home maybe a total of 3 months in those two years), I still say that I like Rolla. It, like anything else in life, is what you make of it. I sure as hell wouldn't be paying to go somewhere that I don't like. I enjoy the challenge of the school and I have some great friends. There's always something to do, just look for it.
For freshmen:
I suggest going to as many parties as possible (even if you don't drink). That's one of the easier ways to meet a lot of people in Rolla.
Most RA's (talking about past years, I haven't heard good things about this year's batch) are pretty cool people. Get to know them and they will let a whole lot of stuff slide. Don't push it too far, but most of them don't want to do the paperwork if you screw up...especially if you're cool with them.
Like K[b]Hitman mentioned, Rolla is what you make of it. Make some friends and you will have fun. If you like the outdoors, biking, hinking, fishing..etc there is tons of stuff to do. THere is always something going on during a weekend.
i got it, since dominoes is RIGHT across the street, why not order for pick up and not get charged delivery or tip them... Like it was said, they get paid to go across the street...they can probably walk it if they wanted.
