Hey guys, like many of you (im sure) i am debating with myself whether or not i should join the St. Pats Board. It would be a huge commitment with a lifetime of payoff, but im still not sure. So, i have come to seek the infinite wisdom of the Seek42 forums.

Unless you like standing either at the puck or on th street corner by Mobil selling sweatshirts in rain, sleet, snow, ice, etc., then St. Pats may not be for you.

nar nar.... SEEK42 generally has a condescending view on greeks. asking here should not be the place to ask. confide in your brothers, confide in past Pat's reps from your house. There is where you answer will be.

Don't be a tool for the SEEK42 boards.

I would say you need to critically analyze how much free time you have now, and how much you will have in upcoming semesters because joining St. Pat's will be a large 2 1/2 year time committment. However, if you have time for the work, the guys I know in St. Pat's are always having a great time and seem to feel its more than worth it.

True, St. Pat's is a lot of work, but you have to think about the rewards in the end. It feels great to know that because of you this whole campus had a blast for a week straight. The friends that you make from the Board are friends for life. They would do anything for you. It means a lot on a resume for future employers to see that you were part of this--there are so many out there that know what the Board means. I've been told by several alumni that when I graduate to contact them and they will do what they can to get me a job.

Joining the Board has been the best thing that I've done in Rolla.

Definately go for it, however, as with any organization, you only get out of it what you put in. Don't go into the Board half-assed, you will not enjoy your experience as wholly.

Only if you don't mind hazing and lots of it....I'm sure that part of the 'Board' hasn't changed.

Look at it this way,

If nobody liked St. Pats, no one would join right?

If you like drinking and can have alot of patience for one semester, then join.

true.

For the record, though, St. Pat's Board is not greek, despite the number of greeks who join.

of course it's not...I know a couple non-greek ones. however, if you look to the left, he's from Beta Sig....put two and two together. He's from a house asking about Pats on a predominately non-greek board. Not exactly a place I'd ask such questions.

so...asking questions about non-greek organizations on a predominantly non-greek board is not a good idea? OHHH, so even though it is completely unrelated to whether or not he is greek, I guess that makes perfect sense to me.

The more people that join st pats the less work you will actually have to do. I am not saying you can half ass it though. Here is an example:
Every saturday there are sales that last from 8-4. We have 9 spots that we sell at every week. If there are 27 people in a class you will only have to sell once every three weeks.
Just something to think about.
