Gustav Mahler's Symphony #5 Adagietto is a little slow, and the Largo from Antonin Dvorak's Symphony #9 is very slow, but I doubt that's what you're going for.

get stuff from soundtracks. most movies have at least one good slow song, and its one that everyone should recognize if theyve seen the movie.

A lot of songs by Chicago are a good bet...and Peter Cetera made a couple good songs after they broke up. Motown and 50's music has a very good selection.

Rod Stewart is creepy.
Sorry for the tangent, but I was reading Paradigm's list and (excellent selection BTW) I noticed that song. It isn't a bad song, but I had a Language Arts teacher who was obcessed with him. I have never been able to hear that name without shuddering ever since...

Don't forget Ben Folds. He has some awesome slow songs.
Brick by ben folds is awsome, the live version with just him is even better
Dashboard confessional has some good ones, I recommend "remember to breathe" the live and unplugged version.
and Something Corporate's "globes and maps" and "konstantine"
