I put the FF series as platform, because it is mainly for platform and only a couple have come to PC
Umm, Scrozer, I think he's referring to platformers, the run around from point A to point B games that typically involve simple puzzles such as jumping from ledge to ledge or flipping a switch to proceed whilst avoiding or defeating a constant stream of simple enemies (and sometimes a boss). pre-gamecube Mario is a good example of this (since i'd personally classify sunshine as an action/adventure).
Platform: Kirby
Action/Adventure: Metroid
RPG: Seiken Densetsu (aka Secret of Mana ... this does not include the awful Legend of Mana)
FPS: Thief
Racing: Gran Turismo

Yes. Keen, Whacky Wheels, and Catacomb Abyss 3D are all very old (VGA) computer games. Fallout is widely seen as one of the best PC RPGs. Gabriel Knight was a CGI adventure game if I'm not mistaken. Chips Challenge and Ultimate Domain I haven't heard of.
