Ok, so I'm from St. Louis and I'm used to going to concerts on a weekly basis. Where, if anywhere, can I find show/band information? I heard there are no shows around here...ever!

I need my daily dosage of ROCK!

yea, the local scene here is pretty terrible. but of course, coming from a scene where The Urge came from, not too many other places are going to stack up to the St. Louis rock scene. I'm not talkin about the crap Story of the Year plays, they are pretty terrible and give st. louis a bad name.

I travel all over for shows. I LOVE nashville/Murfreesboro area for concerts. Much better than St. Louis.

But Rolla is pathetic when it comes to music. Don't get me wrong, KMNR is cool, but I need LIVE music!!!

I'm just having rock show withdrawls.

I got my fix at the Metallica/Godsmack show in St. Louis the other weekend. I mostly went since i hadn't seen Godsmack before, and they stole the show. Metallica was good and all, but after you've heard "Nothing Else Matters" 5 different times, it gets old.

How'd u like some local bands to play at your sorority? All you gotta do is post a thread and u'd get a ton of contacts in bands. Me for one.

I don't know how that would work because we have nowhere for them to set up and such. Plus, guys are only allowed in certain areas of the house. But I'll look into it, it would be awesome. I don't think any of the girls here would be too interested. They seem more into rap/r&b.

That's not me at all. BUT I would go to almost any show around. I love music and I have yet to meet anyone around here that is in a band or anything. If anyone knows any info, then let me know!

There is a Freaker's Ball coming up in KC but it sucks this year with the exception of Papa Roach being there. Nothing will stack up to last years show, that was awesome.

It would be awesome if SUB could get some rock bands playing here. Emerson Drive or whatever they're called? Give me a break, and I've yet to meet anyone on campus who actually seems to like country.

I've met a lot of people that like country, but not as many that I thought would like it.

Papa Roach? I think I'll pass on that. I don't miss rock music enough to actually catagorize Papa Roach as it.

Murfreesboro is a great town right outside of Nashville. My favorite band is from that town. They are really good friends of mine as well. They're touring Europe right now, so I can't just go see them whever I want like old times.

I miss TN.

St. Louis has never really had that good of a music scene. If you set your standards low, and like to cheer for the home team, I suppose some people would think its good. However, thats not to say that there aren't some great venues there. Missisissippi Nights used to be a pretty good venue, but the sound quality has since deteriorated there. The pageant is a REALLY nice club, but they rarely ever book anybody I'd go and see. Pops is great, great owners, right next to a strip club. If only they didn't book so much nu metal and cover bands. If the Rocket Bar consistently booked more shows that weren't 21+ they'd be better. By far, the Creepy Crawl is the best though. The place may be a hole in the wall, but the owners/bookers are great, and the sound is top notch.

I had no idea that Murfreesboro had much of a music scene. I slept in a motel there on the way to North Carolina, had I known they had a good scene, I would've looked around. Out of curiousity, who is your favorite band there?

The Creepy Crawl is my FAVORITE!!!

My favorite band from Murfreesboro is...ok, you're going to laugh at the name,

Feable Weiner.

Before you criticize them by name alone, I'll add that they all love Little Richard. Therefore Feable-Little, Weiner-Richard(Dick)

You get the hint. I love so many more, but they're my all time favorite. Mainly because I'm such good friends with the guys. They've toured the country and are now in Europe. They have a couple videos on Fuse and they are all really good friends with AAR (yeah, they suck, but it gets FW the publicity they deserve) and Bowling For Soup.

FW's live shows are awesome, waaay better than streaming the songs. They're in Europe right now. I miss them... :(

Now isn't that pathetic? We get Emerson Drive, while this weekend Yellowcard is going to be performing in Kirksville at Truman. Some people probably don't like these guys as well as I do, but almost anything would be better than a country group. Besides, from what I've heard, Yellowcard puts on some damn good live shows. We go from having Reel Big Fish last year to this. SUB needs to poll the students to see what types of music are most popular here and then try to get bands based on the results.

Just my two cents.

Yeah, the YellowCard show is $20 for a G.A ticket. I don't know anything about them or I'd consider showing up for it.
