I recently saw a comericial for "the swan 2". For those who don't know, "the swan" is a show that gives ugly women a bunch of surgery to make them hot.

In the new season, one of the women finds out that she has cancer. Is this still entertainment?

Also, from the producers of "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" (a show that had a woman convince her family that she was marrying a fat obnoxious ass) is a new show "My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss".
A parody of "the apprentice", this show takes a dozen ivy-league grads and tells them they can win a dream job on this show. then the boss is an ass and they win nothing but a waste of two months.

and now comedy central is making "Drawn Together" an animated reality show.

how far is too far?

Hopefully we will someday meet or exceed 'The Running Man'

The Running Man seemed to be more of a gameshow. What happened to the game-show craze, that was actually interesting, wheras this reality crap is just retarded. I like to watch TV to escape reality, not to be shown its many horrific forms.

We passed over that line a few months ago. Between the whoring of ones dignity on fear factor to the downright abuse of whatever that mom swap show is, I fear for the future of humanity. So many of these shows are just plain crap, no questions about it. The reason they keep vomiting the same forumlated crap up is because they're much cheaper/easier to make than a sitcom. I was talking to a friend of mine who works for Vivendi/Universal and he said that NBC is now just pushing crap. After seeing the promos for the new LAX show, I was inclined to agree. Essentially people take over the control tower and crazyness ensues. And after seeing this I started thinking, hmm, what does this remind me of? And then it came to me, DIE HARD 2. Cmon people you can't really all suck this bad..... Or can you?

No, its not the same because Die Hard 2 was at Dulles Airport so this show is 'original'

that show looks fucking HILARIOUS! "paper jam! paper jam! there's a paper jam!" while getting pelted with paintballs.

keep in mind that in "obnoxious fiance" the chick was rewarded handsomly, as was her family, and she also earned her 15 minutes of fame and had a few spots on tv shows as a B-list (hah... maybe more of a C-list) celebrity.

the new spots of "big fat boss" say that they really w/ill be earning a job with a different boss. BUT WHO'S THE BOSS?!?! i'm hoping it's a night shift manager at a local denny's.

Lets face it, none of the "Reality Shows" have a damn thing to do with reality. I am pretty sure that drawn together will be just as real as "survivor" or any of those other shitty shows that people seem to think are so great. I am proud to say that I take part in none of the reality shows.

The family from "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" lived in my neighborhood back home and the chick was from Phoenix. They flew the family out and it all happened in like 10 days over the summer. It is pretty funny to find out what exactly gets cut and stuff. Her little brother goes to my little brother's high school and everyone was always asking what it was like and he said it was really nerve-racking. The Boss version looks to be a winner, but I don't know about the other ones.

The vast majority of reality shows are crap. The ones i watch are usually the technical ones....like the old Junkyard Wars, sometimes Monster Grage, Overhaulin', ect. Even then they get too over the top and end up sucking every now again.
I saw Drawn Together last night and i thought it was pretty funny. But then again i love adult cartoons.

I'll pass on the prime time reality crap. Its not even reality. I think the X-Files was more realistic then most of this crap....these are just staged scenarios, thats not reality. I've got better ways to waste my time.

yeah, in theory they should be awesome shows.... like monster garage? that would be a sweet show -- if they concentrated on the construction and engineering of the project. but instead they focus on people arguing with each other. i don't want to watch people arguing unless its funny and scripted!

i'm watching "faking the film" on AMC. it's pretty...dumb. so many prank-reality shows out there now i don't think i can ever really trust people. i can just see me on my deathbed about to pass on when balloons fall from the ceiling and everyone jumps out and yells surprise. hah my whole life was a tv show! wait....they already made a movie about that called the truman show. hm. totally unorigional thought right there.......

great "reality" show -- scare tactics

Guess I lied, and I need to learn what shows are reality shows. I thought junkyard wars, scare tactics, and monster garage were different and I have watched them a couple of times before, they aren't what I think of when I think of realty shows.

*inserts foot in mouth*.

Thats why i liked Junkyard Wars so much. Felt alot more real, more on the construction than the people and bickering. Monster Garage used to be pretty good but now they just go over the top alot. The early ones, like the 5.0 Mustang lawn mower and the Porsche golf-ball cannon were pretty good.

Another thing that kind of angers me in a geeky way is the lack of any actual educational programs on TLC or Discovery anymore.....now all this reality crap. As i said i like some of the shows, but the geek in me really wants to see some actual documenterys every now and then.
