News on Xbox Next. Rumors mainly.
Xbox 2 News

could be interesting if MS tries something a console manufacturer has never done.

wonderful, mixing a PC and a gaming console.

This will be interesting. I don't see a lot of profit coming from it though.

I think it will actually improve the consoles profitability quite a bit. I mean now the main reason that consoles dominate the industry is due to one thing alone, the games that can be played on said console. If they can come up with something that can bridge the gap between two platrforms, that will significantly increase the volume of games able to be played on the system. The only thing I wonder is how long the system will be able to keep up with ever increasing pc game requirments. To keep it competitive in the PC game world, there would have to be some kind of upgradable hardware from ms. Otherwise a year or two into it, you'd be back to a regular xbox, unable to play the processing intensive pc games that were designed for newer hardware.

Until they released the new XBOX with updated hardware, consoles are a never ending cycle.

The Xbox PC is actuallly supposed to have 3 differnt levels. $600, $800 and $1000 level. Each one is a better computer.

This is a huge deal, now when Mom and Dad go looking for a PC their kids will be screaming to get a XboxPC. For 600 bucks they'll compete with anyone with a tight budget. Plus they'll get a full version of Windows XP.

Word is that they're also going to sell a Xbox2 PC kit to add a xbox2 into your PC using a USB port and software... going for $150.

This is pretty old news.

wonderful my ass. this is the worst idea to hit consumers... it means we have to buy a PC, and an xbox/PC, and once technology gets to that point, a PC/cellphone, and also a calculator/PC, and also a TV/PC. point is, microsoft is migrating themselves into every market they can. seriously.....i miss the days when videogames were simple.....

yeah, the NES had a d-pad and four buttons. Thats all you needed. So simple. The xbox 2 will probably come with a keyboard.

it's a pretty stupid idea.

the reason games run so beautifully on consoles is that they are programmed specifically for them. whereas PC games take a much more demanding system because there are such vast varieties of configurations it needs to work on. consider the PC system requirements for games on both platforms. how many games that you see on XBOX will run on a PC -Pentium3 with a Geforce2?

people who don't know any better will assume that because their XBOX games look and run so good that PC games will do the same. then they will be highly dissapointed when the game runs like shit or not at all.

Are you a dumbass? I'm sure their XboxPC's will run the games flawlessly.

Anyways, I've heard that the programing to create the Xbox games is going to be very simple for PC makers to bring it on the Xbox2.

The PS3 is scheduled to launch in Sept of 2006 in the US, 6 months earlier in Japan.

The next Xbox (Xbox 2) is going to be called the "Xenon" because stupid people will think the 3 in "PS3" is better the the 2 in "Xbox2" and the "Xenon" is set to launch next Fall with it's first true look at it coming in January at a Gaming Show.

For those who havn't heard, Sony scrapped the original PlayStation3 9 months ago when they found out the projected specs of the Xbox2. Right now they're scrambling to make a system to rival the Xbox2 in performance (Game designers are noticing this, Sony's in a bad spot right now)

Sony's answer is to include a TIVO function into the PS3, which game designers are hearing will put the PS3 launch price at $450-500 when it's launched.

Right now the best processor for the next 3 consoles will be in the PS3 and Xbox2 (Exact same one, different structure, but same chip). The Best graphics card is going to be in the next Gamecube (Revolution?) and the Xbox2.

So out of the next 3 consoles, the Xbox2 will have the best all around hardware specs inside.

worseley, where are you getting all this information. none of this has been revealed to the public, and anything related to specs of next gen consoles is pure speculation. hook us up with a link, or im just going to figure you for an ass-talker.

Some of it comes from http://www.xbox-scene.com, the rest I get from my contacts on modding. I'm still a branch member of Team Xecuter and therefore get any news on the new consoles.

Most of those specs have been fairly common knowledge for some time.

Both Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have been ordering patents and chip designs for the next systems. It's really easy to track what they're doing.

Both ATI and IBM have contracts with these companies for the chips of the new consoles. Microsoft has been tring to get them to go exclusive instead of sharing the CPU and Video Card with the other consoles, but failed to win it.

Before you start talking out of your ass, why don't you actually try looking for this stuff. Most of what I said can be found easily, the rest I got through backwater channels that are very, very reliable.

I just did a quick check, both the PS3 and Xbox2 with have the exact same "IBM 64-bit POWER/PowerPC".

So the next generation of consoles will have a extreme edge on today's systems.

I know a whole lot more about this stuff too. Like how The "Xenon" may not be backwards compatable with the Xbox1 because Nvidia refuses to work with ATI on the programing language (saying they don't have to share information about their products with competitors).

Or how the PS3 was originally designed 2 years ago with the best hardware, and that's why it couldn't compete with the Xbox2, or how Microsoft just started production in China for the first production line of Xbox2 consoles, getting ready to finish the final design for the September Launch next year, and how Sony/Nintendo won't follow until a year later(2006) (unless you want to buy a Japenese PS3/Advantage then it's Spring 2006.)

How Microsoft started making Xbox2 Games 6-9 months ago, around the time Sony went back to the drawing board.

I can go on and on.....

.
