I don't know how many of you have heard, but essentially Bonds and Giambi have stated that they have been using steroids for the past few years. I know this is no shocker to anyone that has been keeping track of this whole thing, but now that there is proof out there that they have been taking it, what do you think should happen? I find it hard to not blame the league at least some for allowing this to go on for so long. I will never be convinced that there was not at least a bit of suspicion from the powers that be in baseball when players body mass was doubling before their eyes. While it does no good to monday morning quarterback any situation, I feel that the punishment should be severe and harsh. How is this situation any different that if Bonds had been using a corked bat for the past 5 years? It isn't. He's simply cheating, there is no way to explain it otherwise. I think at the very least there should be a year ban for any player caught using steriods. In addition, if Bonds does break Babe Ruth's and Hank Aaron's home run records, he should at the very least have his name with an asterik beside it, but if it were up to me, all the home runs over his drug years should be taken away. What do the other fans out there think?

They had an unfair advantage against those they were playing against (AKA cheatin!). Anything they won during that time should be taken away. Also, they should get a 1 year suspension to show the rest of the league that Baseball is serious.

Too bad Selig is a douchebag. If Bonds and/or Giambi were on small market teams, like my Twins, he'd probably contract the team for their actions. But since its his butt-buddy Steinbrenner and the SF Giants, they'll get a slap on the wrist and let off on their merry way.

Now what about gene doping? Big issue for the olympics now.

I think doping, steroids, whatever should be the same punishment as gambling on the game. They both affect the integrating of the game, of determining the winner and loser. If you do it once, and it can be proven you should be gone from the game for ever: no more playing, no coaching, and no hall of fame.

If a trainer is giving it to players without their knowledge the trainer should no be allowed to be a trainer of MLB ever again. The player should still be suspended for about a month (more after the first offence) to discourage a don’t ask don’t tell policy between players and trainers from developing.

I agree. Bonds should be suspended for at least an entire season and his name completley wiped off the record books for any season he was using steroids

Today he adminted to taking "The Clear" and "The Cream" which are steriods. However, he said they were given to him by his trainer and he didn't know they were steriods at the time.

thats bullshit, it doesn't take a scientist to recognize when something you're taking has steroid-like effects.

The problem with trying to make the ball players accountable is the ass hats that run the MLB Union. They will fight such measures tooth and nail.

Hello, Pete Rose. My thoughts exactly.

I think they should just scrap the whole MLB thing all together.
They'll probably just end up going on strike because they can't use that stuff.

I disagree. The Owners won't force a strike over this. There is no money to be made. Something like this is where you need a strong Comish, like after the Black Sox's Scandle, to stand up and say that cheating will not be allowed, end of story.

They will get some more testing. But they won't even get a policy that is on par with the other major sports. The onwers don't care if the players cheat.

But John McCain does. If the MLB does not make some serious changes, it looks like washington is going to step in and make things happen.
