its been my experience that internet here in TJ ALWAYS sucks regardless of time of day or if its a weekend... i dont know for sure why it does, but i like to blame it on P2P being left on all the time.

I may be part of the problem here, but i feel like bitching about a recent download. I downloaded a .iso of 699 mb, and it took about 20 hours to complete the download. When i starting downloading i was getting about 34kb/s. When the file was almost complete i was getting 9kb/s. That is simply unbearable.
Is it just me or was the internet MUCH faster last year? Because this year it sure does suck. I rarley download anythign of size (this .iso was the first this year) that dosen't come off the campus network.

i just did a cnet bandwidth test, and it came back with 52.4 kbps. HAHAHAH totally suck! this fucking blows!

this is with a movie downloading from uselessjunk.com (@ 2.3 kbps) and a song downloading off DC++ (@ 4.36 kbps), which shouldn't affect the speed that greatly. there aren't anyone accessing shared files on my comptuer right now, so i don't really see any excuse why it's going so slow

has anyone attempted to contact UMRIT about this? i think it's pretty weak. i get way faster internet at home with my folks' DSL

OH YEAH i forgot to mention uploads on i2hub-- 1 @ 50 BYTES per second, one at 115 BYTES per second, and one at 7 kbps

This is supposed to be a engineering school, they need to keep up with the times and boost the internet speeds like every other isp is doing. Probably should even upgrade the network to gigabit within a few years even.

I bet the campus computers still get 1MB/s speeds while the dorms have just one of those lines spread across.

yes, on campus speeds are always fine... seems like reshall usage has just increased dramatically over the past couple of years
