Ya, a friend of mine gave me his trial key, but that was good for only one weekend. Do you know if they are having any Public Beta weekends? Cause, that game was impressive. The fact that there will not be any monthly charges is very cool.

that game wont have monthly charges? ohh wow i may buy it then, i assumed it would so i autopmatically turned away form it, but if itll be free online...

Yes Guildwars will have no monthly charges, to keep thier servers up though they will release an expansion pack to the game every 6-9 months, These expansions are not nessassary to continue to play the game, the new material will simply be locked ro you.

I've been looking at it. Seems like it would be cool. The only way to get in on the beta weekends is if you preorder the game i believe.
some guys i used to hang with say its good and they made alpha....since im already looking for a game to play this might be the one. Wonder when release will be.

The release date is sometime in February, but untill then you can always get in on the beta test weekends by pre ording he game for 5 bucks at an eb games.

I was able to beta because a friend of mine who pre-ordered it gave me his trial key. each preorder comes with a trial key you can give to a friend. it was only good for 1 weekend though.

They have already had two public weekends, there are none in the works as of yet but I would expect them to have one more right before the game is actually realesed.

The next BWE is January 8th, if I'm not mistaken. As far as I am aware, the release date is set for some time in February. As for getting beta keys, gwonline.net usually gets a whole bunch and has contests to give them away, and other websites like IGN and GameSpot do too.
What's great about this game is that it'll run well on pretty much any hardware. The minimum requirements for that are just that - the minimum requirements to play the game and have fun, not the bare requirements to get the game to render and play at seconds-per-frame.
And the whole buy it once and play it forever thing is nice too
