If you're looking to get a legit copy of version 3, you have to be a current registered user - meaning you have to have paid the $20 fee within the past twelve months. Like me, I'm an inactive registered user... My twelve month period expired back in August, so to download the newest Pro version, I have to pay $20 again... Which means I'll probably stick to the basic version.

If you're looking for a not-so-legit copy, well I can't help you there. I'm an honest, law abiding citizen that doesn't want to get thrown in jail for copyright infringement and internet piracy. :)

I have a legit copy and I wouldn't waste your time. Unless you intend on doing some video conferencing any time soon, There is nothing else major done to it, unless you want an even longer load time (and this is it running on my new A64 system)

I have to close trillian (3) now whenever I play games because when people go online or offline, and especially if I get booted and the list has to reload, my framerate lags like crap. I appreciate how the windows relocate themselves when you're done playing in a lower res than your desktop though.. and I really like how the snap to each other and stuff.

I'm really not all that impressed with trillian 3. Yeah, it is up to date with all the messenger protocals. Meaning that yahoo works, but considering how often I use yahoo.....who cares.

It's been taking up too much of my computers resources, and as the owner of only two mediocre machines, fuck it....I'm switching back to 2.

I gotta ask for the sake of my own curiosity, what exactly is the draw to use Trillian anyway?

the main reasons I use Trillian are the "rename contact" feature and the autosaving of logs for all convos.

the main draw to trillian was that it could instant message members of different services with the same interface.

the reason i was drawn to it was that i was told it would use much less system resources. after compaing the two, i found that AIM with deadaim used half the memory that trillian did.

i use a specific version of AIM. i've had it for a year and haven't upgraded. it's slim, it doesn't take up too much memory, and it does the job. DeadAIM solves any qualms i had with the origional AIM.

You guys should check out Gaim. It supports the rename contacts feature and all of the chat protocols. Plus it's free, as in speech and beer.

Get it here: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/

if you have an old load file for aim id like to have it. i enjoy trillian now that i have it, but my computer at home is more public computer that has aim and blows ass because of it.

AIM takes what their users want and go half-ass to get them by teaming up with ADWARE creators like WildTangent

Trillian is good stuff. I like v3 Pro [probably the most stable alpha I have ever played with]. But alas, my calculator-pretending-to-be-a-computer cannot handle all the graphical nuances of v3 [Pro has some bloody sweet looking transparency effects]. So I stay with v2 Pro, which works great for me.

It wasn't hard to get a copy of Trillian3 Pro, even though I have not payed for any of it. When you've been around as long as I have [about 12 minutes], you just know where to find this stuff. :P Actually a friend gave me the link
