I don't know if any of you know this but a working modchip was released for the gamecube a couple months back. Long story short, a bunch of scene bullshit drama came about where somebody didn't get credit where credit was due and he ended up releasing the schematics and a guide on building your own mod chip. Most of the stuff is beyond me, so I can't make one, but maybe some of you upper level CompEs can make use of this.

http://debugmo.de/gc/gc.html

And if you can make one, I'll gladly buy one off of you.

Play backups on mini dvds and run homebrew code. If nobody can make one, I'll probably just see if I can get a wholesale order going. They run about $70 for one or $60 for 5. (cost per unit that is)

Hmm... I understand most of how to build it, but all I can really say is No Way would I try to do something like that for that little, but I'd gladly pay anyone to do it for me.

These can be chugged out like crazy if someone had the right equipment, but unfortunately I don't have thousands in circuit development tools. I passed the information along, so maybe we'll se something more professional hit the market soon.

There already is "professional" one, its called Viper GC. The schematics are essentially the same as the one I posted. Most of the work was done by a fellow by the name of Tmbinc, then it was "stolen" and its gone into mass production. The reason that Tmbinc posted the schematics and other tools is because he didn't want to see commercial proliferation through the scene. He developed the modboard for legit homebrew reasons, and it just so happens that it'll run "backups" as well. This is why he didn't want to see this commercially developed.

That being said, you can purchase ViperGC at several distributors, most notably divineo. Its about $68 per board, but if you buy several units, you can get it much cheaper. $50 per unit for orders of 50 or more.
