anyone know the SMB server and path that you have to mount to get access to the files that would be under "s:\" on one of the school machines?

thanks for the URL.. I applied the patch, and tried to map the drive... but it keeps asking me for my login/password... I tried 'ptsm8f' and '131.151.1.135\ptsm8f' ... neither work.

I have had similar problems trying to map SAMBA shares from linux.. I seem to remember it just eventually working, but I can't remember if there was some trick to it.

anyone have a fix for this problem?

you have to install a patch so that the samba can bypass some safety mechanism or something that windows has. IT used to supply it, but I don't know anymore.

You have to reboot the computer.

You could also just FTP to your S drive from your personal computer by using the address for one of the gpunix machines. Well, most people can. If you have an '@' in your password, it won't work because it will assume that the '@' is part of the address and will not connect.

9x = 9.9999... -x
9x = 9 (since x = 0.999...)
x = 1 = 0.99999
