Okay, so I have a question. One of my alumni needs to be able to convert .mpeg movies into .wmv files, so that he can watch them on his Pocket PC. Any suggestions? I figure TMPGEnc would be the best bet, but I don't know if it converts to .wmv or not.

PPC's will play .mpeg I know this because I have one and have played .mpeg on it. TMPGEnc will allow him to make compatible files for free.
