What are some of your favorite movies that are relatively unheard of? I don't want to see movies like The Matrix or Braveheart. I want to see some like maybe Equilibrium, Requiem for a Dream, Boondock Saints, etc.

Those are relatively unheard of?

Fist of Legend is perhaps my favorite movie. I'm not sure how many people have heard of it though.

That's pretty much all I have to say about movies.

I'm a fan of the older classics. Ones that recent generations have lost out on. Like A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, and Apocolypse Now.

Donnie Darko I think would fall under your catagory. It seems to be making a comeback, though. Army of Darkness (and the Evil Dead movies for that matter) is one of those that people don't often think about.

How can we forget Clerks?

Sczroer is hitting the kind of movies I'm talking about, although I've seen all that he's listed.

For more clarification, when I say "Favorite, relatively unhead of movies..." the key word is "relatively". If you asked a 100 people from my home town if they have ever even HEARD of the movie Equilibrium, I doubt you'd get 10 affirmatives. Same goes for Boondock Saints. They are movies that exist within our age group and don't branch out well into other generations.

I'm wanting to get movies that people just LOVE to tell their friends about because they're confident they've never seen the movie. No one cares if The Shawshank Redemption is your favorite movie because everyone has seen it and everyone loves it. Everyone has seen Schindler's List. These are not the kind of movies I'm looking for.

I'll list a few of mine (I don't feel like listing them all). Some of these are childhood favorites.

Explorers
Music From Another Room
For Love of the Game
Keeping the Faith
Labyrinth

I personally love all of Kevin Smith's movies. I liked Clerks when I saw it for the first time, quite a while ago, but I guess they are pretty popular now, especially with the college student cult following. I have yet to find a movie quite like 'Dogma'.

'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' and 'Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey' are awesome. Recently on Comedy Central, i guess they arent a unpopular as before.

'Cheerleader Ninjas'...you'll have to rent it to understand.

and I'd like to say Army of Darkness was good, but Donnie Darko hurt my head.

At the theatre where I live they have all sorts of crazy movies on Thursdays. With titles like 'Nymphoid Barbarians from Dinosaur Hell' and 'Teenage Cat Girls in Heat', you cant go wrong.

Anything by Jim Jarmusch.
Dead Man - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112817/
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165798/
Coffee and Cigarettes - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379217/

Highly Recomend all three of those.

Also recomend Oldboy - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/

This movie is great.
It won the Grand Jury prize at the 04 Cannes.
Making an english remake but I don't have too high hopes.

Here's my list (at least that I own, it's a lot harder trying to think of my favorite movies that I don't have on DVD):

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Tron
The Outsiders
October Sky
Hamburger Hill

At least so far.

Swirls hit the other half of my list there with that one post.

A few others that I just thought of:

Natural Born Killers
Reservoir Dogs
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (wasn't a hit when it first came out, but it exploded with us)
Legend (early Tom Cruise medieval action flick)
Real Genius (go, see, NOW!)

More to be added later when I try to recall all my old-ass movies from home.

You are only the second person I have ever talked to who has seen that movie. At least outside of my family (mom and dad were the type that'd record moves off of Cinemax and HBO back in the '80's)
